Who we are

Summer Jib LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, operates Launch Lookout. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you use the Launch Lookout iOS app, related website pages, support channels, and backend services.

Information Launch Lookout processes

  • Location information, including precise or approximate device location when you grant permission, a manually selected location, altitude and accuracy information supplied by iOS, and a location name produced by Apple's geocoding services.
  • Direction and sensor information, including compass heading, device attitude, motion, camera field of view, and orientation used to calculate where an object should appear on the screen. These live sensor readings are ordinarily processed on your device and are not stored by Summer Jib as a movement history.
  • Launch, spacecraft, and celestial-interest information, including the launch or object you select, followed launch identifiers, notification preferences, viewed trajectory or pass data, and local onboarding or feature settings.
  • Camera and recording information. The live camera image is displayed and processed on your device for the visual guide. If you choose to record, Apple's ReplayKit may capture the screen and, only if you enable it, microphone audio. Launch Lookout does not automatically upload recordings to Summer Jib.
  • Notification information, including an Apple Push Notification service device token, sandbox or production environment, app version, followed launch identifiers, notification-delivery status, and related timestamps when you enable launch alerts.
  • Purchase and subscription information supplied by Apple StoreKit, such as product identifiers, localized product details, purchase result, entitlement status, trial eligibility, renewal state, and restore status. Apple processes payment information; Summer Jib does not receive your full payment-card number.
  • Local cache and preference information, including manual-location settings, onboarding completion, followed launches, weather snapshots, orbital elements, terrain-horizon samples, app preferences, and other cached data used to improve speed or offline resilience.
  • Technical and service information, such as IP address and ordinary HTTP request metadata processed by hosting providers, app version, request time, endpoint status, source-health information, error details, and security or abuse-prevention signals generated when the app communicates with our backend.
  • Communications you choose to send, including support requests, feedback, email address, attachments, or other information included in your message.

How Launch Lookout uses information

  • Calculate azimuth, elevation, pass timing, sky position, launch direction, horizon obstruction, weather context, and other location-dependent viewing information.
  • Render the map, launch-site, trajectory, Live View, celestial view, camera guide, recording controls, and other app features.
  • Retrieve launch schedules, orbital elements, terrain elevations, weather information, source-health status, and updated trajectory models.
  • Schedule local notifications, register opted-in devices for remote launch updates, deliver alerts, and stop sending to tokens that Apple reports as invalid where technically supported.
  • Load StoreKit products, process purchases, restore purchases, determine current entitlements, and provide subscription management.
  • Cache recent information, diagnose failures, protect service reliability, prevent abuse, comply with law, respond to support, and improve the app.

Precise location and on-device calculations

Launch Lookout requests location only while you use the app. Precise location materially improves direction and elevation guidance, but you may deny permission or select a manual location where that option is available. You can change location permission or Precise Location in iOS Settings.

Launch Lookout performs many sky-position, trajectory, solar, celestial, compass, and orbital calculations on your iPhone. The app may send coordinates to Summer Jib's Vercel-hosted API when it needs server-side visible-spacecraft calculations or a fallback result. Summer Jib does not use those coordinates to build a user-linked movement history or for advertising.

For terrain-horizon calculations, the app may send the observer coordinate and derived sample coordinates directly to the U.S. Geological Survey elevation service. Apple may process location through Core Location, geocoding, MapKit, WeatherKit, and related Apple services under Apple's terms and privacy policy. Hosting and service-provider logs may temporarily include IP address, coordinates contained in a request, time, and technical request metadata.

Camera, microphone, and screen recordings

Camera access is used to place directional guidance over the scene you are viewing. The camera feed and motion alignment are ordinarily handled on the device. Launch Lookout does not use facial recognition, identify people in the camera view, or automatically send the camera feed to our servers.

Screen recording is optional and uses Apple's ReplayKit. Microphone capture is off unless you enable it. After recording, Apple's preview and sharing controls determine whether you save or share the recording. A recording can contain faces, voices, precise surroundings, notifications, or other personal information visible or audible during capture; you are responsible for reviewing it and obtaining any permission required before recording or sharing others.

Notifications and device tokens

If you enable launch alerts, Launch Lookout may store the APNs device token and the launch identifiers you follow in a Neon database used by our Vercel backend. The token identifies an app installation for notification delivery; it is not your Apple ID, name, or email address.

You can stop alerts in the app or iOS notification settings. We retain notification records only as reasonably needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and document the alert service, and may retain limited delivery or security records where permitted by law. Apple controls APNs delivery and may rotate or invalidate device tokens.

Third-party services and data providers

Launch Lookout currently relies on service providers that may process information under their own terms, including Apple services such as Core Location, MapKit, WeatherKit, StoreKit, ReplayKit, geocoding, and APNs; Vercel for API hosting and operational logs; Neon for backend data storage; and the U.S. Geological Survey for elevation samples.

The app and backend may use public or licensed launch and orbital information from sources such as The Space Devs Launch Library, CelesTrak, Space-Track, launch providers, government agencies, and other sources identified in the app. These sources primarily provide event or object data rather than personal information about you. Source availability and terms may change.

We require service providers that receive personal information to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable App Store requirements. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Local storage and deletion choices

Launch Lookout does not currently require a Summer Jib account. Most preferences and caches remain on the device and can be removed by changing the relevant setting, clearing a feature where available, or deleting the app. iOS may also remove cached files automatically.

To request deletion of backend information that can reasonably be associated with your app installation or support communication, contact admin@summerjib.com. Because Launch Lookout does not require an account, we may ask for information needed to locate and verify the record, and we may be unable to associate an anonymous request with a particular installation.

Deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account or App Store subscription settings.

Children

Launch Lookout is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. A person under the age of majority where they live should use the app only with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision, particularly when traveling, viewing at night, using the camera, or sharing recordings.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through support or another feature, contact admin@summerjib.com so we can take appropriate steps.

Notice at collection and sources of information

We collect the categories of information described in this policy directly from you, from your device and app activity, from your account and subscription status, from support communications, and from service providers that you authorize or that help us operate the services.

We collect and use information for the purposes described in this policy, including app functionality, personalization, security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, analytics, customer support, legal compliance, and enforcing our terms and membership limits.

Categories, purposes, recipients, and retention

The app-specific sections below identify the main categories of personal information we collect. We use those categories for the purposes listed in this policy and may disclose them to service providers, processors, contractors, platform providers, professional advisers, regulators, or transaction counterparties only as described here or as otherwise permitted by law.

We retain each category only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including active account use, feature delivery, support, legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, billing, dispute handling, backups, and legitimate internal records. Specific retention periods may vary by category, legal requirement, provider configuration, and whether you delete your account or request deletion.

How we share information

No sale or targeted-advertising sharing: we do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the apps and website, including cloud hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting where configured, payments, app security, email delivery, and customer support.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the services, to investigate abuse or security issues, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.

Security and retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and access controls. Some sensitive credentials, such as Plaid access tokens used by PerkTrack, are encrypted before storage. These safeguards reduce risk but cannot eliminate every risk, and we do not guarantee absolute security.

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the services, comply with law, resolve disputes, maintain security, and support legitimate business records. When you delete an account, we delete or de-identify account data unless retention is required or permitted by law, security, fraud prevention, backup integrity, billing records, or dispute handling.

Service protection, fraud prevention, and limit enforcement

We may process account, device, request, entitlement, usage, diagnostic, security, and support information to enforce membership limits, apply fair-use controls, rate limit requests, prevent automated or abusive activity, protect service reliability, troubleshoot issues, and investigate suspected fraud or security incidents.

When needed to protect users or the services, we may retain limited records related to security, fraud prevention, abuse investigations, chargebacks, billing, disputes, legal compliance, or enforcement even after an account deletion request, where permitted or required by law.

Automated processing and high-impact decisions

The services may use automated systems to parse labels, match products, score compatibility, organize transactions, estimate benefit usage, detect abuse, or personalize app experiences. These outputs are informational and may be reviewed, corrected, limited, or overridden by product logic, support review, provider data, or user choices.

We do not use Summer or PerkTrack outputs to make high-impact automated decisions about medical treatment, credit, lending, employment, housing, insurance, legal rights, government benefits, or similar eligibility decisions.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, or additional information about how we process personal information. You may also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator.

California residents may request to know, access, delete, or correct personal information, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable, and exercise privacy rights without discrimination. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, we do not provide a separate sale/share opt-out link.

Residents of other U.S. states may have similar privacy rights, including rights to access, delete, correct, obtain a portable copy of personal information, opt out of targeted advertising or sale where applicable, and appeal certain request decisions.

EEA and UK users may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object to processing based on your particular situation.

To exercise privacy rights, contact admin@summerjib.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. Authorized agents may contact us using the same email address, and we may request proof of authorization and identity verification where permitted by law.

If we deny a privacy request and your law gives you an appeal right, reply to our decision email or contact admin@summerjib.com with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line.

Security incidents and breach notices

We maintain safeguards designed for the type of information we process, but no app, network, cloud service, financial institution, or third-party platform is perfectly secure. Security incidents may occur despite reasonable safeguards, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or unavailability will never occur.

If we learn of a suspected incident, we may investigate, contain, remediate, preserve evidence, coordinate with affected providers, suspend connections or features, require reauthentication, rotate credentials, and take other steps we reasonably believe are appropriate. If applicable law requires notice, we will notify users, regulators, service providers, or other parties as legally required.

For Summer, some skin profile or scan-related information may be health-related consumer information. If a consumer health data incident triggers a specific notice law, including the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule where applicable, we will follow the applicable notice process without implying that Summer is covered by HIPAA unless that status is separately confirmed.

International processing

We operate from the United States and may process information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your place of residence.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our apps, vendors, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted with a new last updated date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where required.
